Together we can do more! The Scouts provide over 80,000 children and young people from all parts of society the chance to experience adventures together and grow as individuals. This means that every day we contribute to an open society characterized by diversity and respect, something that is more relevant than ever. Our 100 years of experience in active outdoor life also means that we have experiences we are happy to share – everything from group dynamics and leadership to personal development and enhanced self-esteem. Do you want to contribute?
The Scouts are constantly trying to reach new target groups so that more children and young people and their families can have the opportunity to try scouting in new forms. We collaborate with municipalities in five locations in Sweden to offer scouting to children within the framework of school and leisure activities. We also conduct camp activities during the summer holidays where we offer scouting for children and young people.
About the position
In this fun and developing role, you will have the chance to work directly with children who have not yet discovered scouting. You will have the opportunity to work with your colleagues to conduct scout meetings where you provide children with a leisure time filled with adventure and friends. You are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating activities together with colleagues at the Scouts and educators at the schools where you work. In this position, you will primarily work outdoors at schools in the Stockholm area, initially in Skärholmen. There, you will collaborate closely with the educators at the schools and with the district you work in.
During the summer months, you will also have the chance to develop your leadership skills as you will lead summer workers for three weeks. This includes a week of outdoor and values-based leadership training, followed by two weeks where you will help conduct day scout camps that all children from the area can register for. You are responsible for the entire camp planning, responsible for conducting training for the summer workers, and then you are overall responsible for the day camp activities during the weeks, as well as performing evaluations and follow-ups.
About you
Requirements for the position:
- Have been a leader for children and young people
To fit in this role, we see that you have:
- Experience of voluntary engagement, preferably within the Scouts
- Knowledge and experience of outdoor life
- Worked in areas with socio-economic challenges
- Experience of working towards clear goals and the ability to plan, implement, document, and evaluate your work
- Have a B driver's license
It is advantageous if you have education in pedagogy, outdoor life, leisure leadership, or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent for the position. Since you will be driving the project locally at the schools in a district, we would like you to have experience in leading projects as well as knowledge of communication or photography as you document the project continuously.
To fit in this position, you enjoy outdoor life and being in nature. You are a secure role model and have the ability to inspire children and young people, seeing potential in their abilities. Additionally, you have a coaching approach and are happy to support young people into new areas of responsibility and have an easy time creating new contacts. You have well-developed self-leadership and solve problems where they arise. You work in a structured manner and enjoy varied tasks.
The Scouts are a values-driven organization, and of course, you share our values and vision (read more about these at www.scouterna.se (http://www.scouterna.se)).
